The 20th Conference of the German Associationof Sport Economics and Sport Management 2016

Host Department of Sport Economics, Sport Management and Media Research (IfS, University of Tuebingen) and the German Association of Sport Economics and Sport Management.

Conference theme “Sport labour economics” – 60 years after Rottenberg‘s seminal article was published in the Journal of Political Economy the links between sport and labour economics are still very close. Traditionally, topics related to elite sports, i.e. the distribution of player talent, transfer systems, players’ salaries and salary caps, are discussed in this context. The understanding of the conference theme goes, however, beyond this and also considers topics related to leisure sports in this context (e.g. “value of voluntary work” or “labour market effects of sports participation”)

Keynotes o Bernd Frick (University of Paderborn) o Michael Lechner (University of St. Gallen). Scientific Committee Christoph Breuer (GSU Cologne), Martin-Peter Büch (Saarland University), Helmut Dietl (University of Zurich), Eike Emrich (Saarland University), Jörg Königstorfer (TU Munich), Wolfgang Maennig (University of Hamburg), Tim Pawlowski (University of Tuebingen), Holger Preuß (University of Mainz). Abstract submission In addition to the conference theme the conference is open to all areas of sport economics / management. An abstracts (12-point font, max. 600 words) should be submitted to ak-sportoekonomie@ifs.unituebingen.de until December 31st 2015. Abstracts passing the review process will be accepted for presentation at the conference. The official conference language is German. However, the keynotes and (at least) one parallel session at any time during the conference will be held in English.1) PhD workshop and SPORT TALK Prior to the conference a PhD workshop (organized by Arne Feddersen) and the SPORT TALK (a panel discussion with experts from all areas of sports) will take place at the University of Tuebingen.
