- 6th Eastern Conference on Football Economics & 8th Western Conference on Football and Finance (Saint Petersburg, Russia) – 26-28 May 2022
HSE University, New Economic School, University of Reading, and Paderborn University are organizing a conference on the economics and finance of football, in collaboration with OR in Sports. It is aimed to highlight high quality research of the football industry as well as to facilitate the cooperation between academics and practitioners.
The organizers invite researchers to submit extended abstracts for presentation. Theoretical and empirical research papers that cover the economic, financial, social, and managerial aspects of the football industry are welcome. The list of possible topics includes, but is not limited to: transfer market, discrimination, football league regulations, women football, youth football, tournament design, optimization of match strategies, corruption, betting, spectators’ demand, financial and social issues of the World Cup, scheduling, referee assignments, and competitive balance.
To participate in the conference, please submit an extended abstract (3 pages) by February 15, 2022. It should briefly describe the methodology of research, clearly state the hypotheses and main results, and emphasize contribution to the literature. Notifications of acceptance will be sent no later than March 15, 2022. One of the principal goals of the conference is to provide each speaker the detailed feedback from the communities of sports economists and people working in the field of operations research in sports. For that purpose, full texts of accepted papers must be submitted by April 15, 2022. The program committee will assign a discussant to each paper by April 26, 2022. Each conference speaker is expected to serve as a discussant for one other paper. Full papers will NOT be published anywhere; each full paper will be sent to one discussant.
Plenary lectures will be delivered by Mario Guajardo (NHH Norwegian School of Economics), Brad Humphreys (West Virginia University), James Reade (University of Reading), Pamela Wicker (Bielefeld University).

- MathSport International 2022 (Reading, UK) – 11-13 July 2022: important dates
The 9th edition of MathSport International will be organized in Reading (UK), at the London Road Campus of the University of Reading. It will be an in-person meeting (unless the pandemic forces us otherwise). Reading is close to and well-connected with London by public transport. The conference will be held on 11-13 July 2021.

- OR in Sports at EURO XXXII (Espoo, Finland) – 3-6 July 2022
The EURO working group “OR in Sports” is organizing a stream on OR in Sports, as part of the EURO Conference, July 3-6, 2022 in Espoo, Finland (more information about the conference can be found at https://euro2022espoo.com/). We are aiming for a sports track covering various applications and methodologies (e.g. optimization, statistics, analytics, economics, …), much like the sessions we had at the previous EURO conferences in Dublin, Valencia, Poznan, and Athens (online) in previous years.
We invite you to submit an abstracts in our stream. Using the invitation code 93d4d475, you can submit your abstract by going to the abstract submission page https://www.euro-online.org/conf/euro32. Abstracts must be written in English and contain no more than 1500 characters (no formulas or mathematical notation are allowed). Each attendee is allowed to present one paper at the conference.

- Postdoctoral position in Sports Economics / OR in Sports (HSE University)
Laboratory of Sports Studies in Moscow, Russia, invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of Sports Economics / Operations Research in Sports.
The position involves:
– working under the direct supervision of Dr. Dmitry Dagaev on tournament design topics;
– participants are encouraged to pursue their own research along with working on Laboratory of Sports Studies research projects such as Scheduling the Russian Premier League; Optimization of referee assignments; Estimation of in-game strategies
– writing research papers for international peer-reviewed journals in co-authorship with the members of the Laboratory of Sports Studies;
– participation in the events of the Laboratory of Sports Studies and other contribution to the Laboratory’s development;
– public presentations of candidate’s own research to the academic community.

EURO Prize for OR for the Common Good (EPOCG)

The EURO Doctoral Dissertation Award (EDDA)

The EURO Doctoral Dissertation Award (EDDA) was introduced in 2003 and recognizes the OR contributions of PhD students or scientists having less than two years research experience since completing a PhD. The entries will consist of doctoral dissertations that were completed after the competition deadline of the previous EURO Doctoral Dissertation Award. The dissertation must have been defended at an European University and the author must be a member of an EURO member society.
